Best guess is it was one of the liberal clerks and they're hoping the public can pressure the justices to change their vote/and or pare back the opinion.

That's what I would guess, but I'm biased in favor of it being overturned.

Someone looking at it from a different perspective might suggest otherwise. For example, it might have been conservatives trying to ensure that none of those who signed on to this decision switch sides (as Roberts allegedly did on ObamaCare).

Most likely to sway the upcoming election. I don't think this clerks think this will change the justices minds, but then again a clerk willing to undermine the immense trust that existed within SCOTUS is likely suffering from brain fog.

Decision will probably be officially released on the last day of the session, in June.

Rumor has it that a Sotomayor clerk is likely to have released it. She is an outspoken liberal, and has been quoted by this reporter in the past.
