You should be aware that tourist hotspots, restaurants, shops, and public transportation are places where most thefts and pickpocketing occur, and that violent crime exists on the streets, too.

I found Bolivia to be quite safe. Its not very touristy and has lots of amazing unspoiled nature e.g. Uyuni salt flats.  Spent Shabbat with Chabad in La Paz.
