Turn into anniversary gift
« on: May 08, 2022, 06:07:53 AM »
Hi. A little random, but I was wondering if any of you had any idea....

When I was dating my wife, we were in a restaraunt and a waitor near us dropped a clean plate and it broke. My wife asked the waitor if we can have it (no idea why, but she did). So he packaged it up  in a pizza box.
I guess I am a sentimental person, so I still have mine,
and I am approaching my 10 year anniversary this year, and would love to transform it into something (or have someone transform it).

I know it is random, but I can't wait to see what creativity someone could come up with.

Thank you!! (or at the very least, thanks for humoring me :)

I’ve seen people make jewelry out of (“around” might be a better way to describe it) a piece of a plate broken at the vort (or perhaps at the wedding), but those places usually have a design and the jewelry designers choose the shard/fragment that makes the most sense aesthetic-wise. Won’t really work with a plain white plate.

(no idea why, but she did)

Nice idea, but you might want to find out why she kept it before you potentially "ruin" it, even with great intentions.

I have an idea for a temporary use.

You can use it as part of a centerpiece for an anniversary meal, or for a bouquet of flowers. Get a very wide vase and float them inside, using clear orbeez. Then you can either float a candle on top, or put flower in.

Crack it and combine it with other glass/ceramic shards and you can make a nice piece of mosaic. Perhaps a challah board or something similar.

Some people make a frame for the original wedding invitation using glass from the plate from the vort/lchaim.

Also, once you know the reason, the gift can be in line with that. If it's for a certain segulah or something, perhaps creating a piece of jewelry or mosaic with a pasuk or pisgam related to the reason could be even more meaningful

You can frame it with a quote from seforim of why we break a ceramic plate by the vort, because the shiduch can't be undone, it's forever!

A new pizza box is definitely in order. :)
