They already know it's airborne, the difference is that it requires long exposure & usually only transmissible after very visible symptom onset.

Yup, totally reminiscent of March 2020

We're all going to get smallpox vaccines? Why were they taken out of circulation?
As I mentioned on page 1, NOBODY---in the whole world---has gotten smallpox since the '70s.  Smallpox supposedly exists only in the US and former USSR, in the lab.  (I don't think we trust theirs is secure, especially since the breakup of the USSR.)  There was no reason to keep a vaccine in circulation, but it would be irresponsible not to have any in case it was released accidentally or on purpose.

Do we know that smallpox vaccine works against monkepox? Or is it a hope?

Do we know that smallpox vaccine works against monkepox? Or is it a hope?
Yes, to both.
It's based on reviewing all the reports of monkeypox since it was discovered in 1970.  For many of them, patients were asked if they'd been vaccinated, or examined for the typical scar that occurs with smallpox vax.

"In 11 articles, describing outbreaks from 10 different countries, investigators reported that none of the 49 cases were vaccinated....

In the 10 other articles, which reported data from outbreaks in the [Congo] [1981–2013] and US [2003], the proportion of monkeypox cases with a history of prior smallpox vaccination ranged from 4–21%, illustrating that the majority of cases (approximately 80–96%) occurred in unvaccinated individuals."

So it seems that yes, the smallpox vaccine works against monkeypox but it's not perfect.  Some of the variation may be related to how many years had passed since vaccination.

I think at this point the assumption is just that coincidentally that's where the transmission clusters are

Why does it seem to be mainly affecting LBGTQ?
Over the past 50 years, the main group affected was NOT LBGTQ, but initially children, and later young adults and health professionals who cared for patients.  So it seems (to me) likely that this could just be a coincidence, that is, if the first person infected happen to be LBGTQ, and the virus is transmitted during close contact, then it's likely that the next person infected will be among their acquaintances, also LBGTQ.  In Portugal, there was some report that many or most of the patients had been at the same "sauna".

But tracing possible contacts is being actively studied now.

In the past, many cases were thought to have been transmitted via contact with animals.  In human-to-human transmission, "sleeping in the same room or bed, living in the same household, or drinking or eating from the same dish were risk behaviors associated with human-to-human transmission.... Unexpectedly, assisting with toileting and hygiene and laundering clothes did not have a significant association with acquiring monkeypox." (same reference as above)

And yet children are becoming infected with it as well.

"While the virus itself is not a sexually transmitted infection, which are generally spread through semen and vaginal fluids, the most recent surge in cases appears to have been spread among men who have sex with other men, WHO officials said, emphasizing that anyone can contract monkeypox.

“Many diseases can be spread through sexual contact. You could get a cough or a cold through sexual contact, but it doesn’t mean that it’s a sexually transmitted disease,” said Andy Seale, who advises WHO on HIV, hepatitis and other sexually transmitted infections.

The virus is spread through close contact with people, animals or material infected with the virus. It enters the body through broken skin, the respiratory tract, the eyes, nose and mouth. Though human-to-human transmission is believed to occur through respiratory droplets as well, that method requires prolonged face-to-face contact because the droplets cannot travel more than a few feet, according to the CDC.

“This is a virus that is super stable outside the human host, so it can live on objects like blankets and things like that,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CNBC in a separate interview Monday. “And so you can see situations where people become reluctant to try on clothing, things like that, where it could become disruptive in areas where this is spreading, like New York City.”"

I love the way this thread is going. I think PG and me are one of the least likely people to believe in conspiracy theories.

saying gates predicted this isnt a theory since he actually did predict it.
