Saw this on one mile at a time. Thought it was pretty amazing.

Are they landing straight down like a helicopter?  Wow! It seems like all pilots are trained for this! Amazing!

There isn't much depth perception (the runway seems like it's 100 feet long), so maybe it's the camera position/angle and it isn't as steep as it looks.

Plans don't "land" straight down. They crash straight down.

Some do, albeit not commercial airliners.

What in the world is running across the field at 5:53 and 5:58. That could really cause some issues.

My bad, I should have been more specific, but I didn't think in a thread about crosswind landings by commercial airliners that the context necessitated it.

Woof.

You mean flying? :P

How would an airport curtail that?

This is the scariest landing ever seen. Lufthansa plane, 3 years ago. Wing touched the ground, only minor damages. landed on second attempt

Its highly unlikely that its straight down, only harrier jets and f35s land flat and thats because their thrusters rotate.

Off the top of my head there's also the V22 Osprey.
I'm sure there are others but I'm too lazy to look it up...

True, but the Osprey uses rotating propellers, whereas the Harriers and F35s use rotating jet engines.

I think the latter are much cooler.

I believe it's the exhaust outlet (whatever it's called) -not the jet engine- that rotates, nonetheless, I agree, it's cooler.
Still, "only harrier jets and f35s land flat" was an incorrect statement...

F-15 flying and landing with one wing by an Israeli Pilot

Only Israeli pilots can pull that off, no wonder they were invited only once at top gun...

There isn't much depth perception (the runway seems like it's 100 feet long), so maybe it's the camera position/angle and it isn't as steep as it looks.

+1

Super-telephoto lenses (which was likely used here, given the angle) have a 'compression effect', eliminating perspective and depth perception.
