AA just called me that they mistakenly ticketed the LY flights in Y class, which allows seat selection, while it should have been in W and can’t select seats. They didn’t offer me to rebook direct (maybe because I’m not flying to JFK or MIA), just called to LMK that I’ll be losing my seat assignment.
That doesnt make much sense.
If they are giving you W class, then you are sitting in Premium.
If the aircraft doesn't have a premium cabin, then it's impossible for them to give you W class on that segment, it's non existent. Therefore you would be booked into 'Y' class instead.
And to clear this up - coincidentally, W class is a letter reserved for Premium cabin with both AA and LY, so there's no mixing up W to mean Economy.
