To bring this thread back to life.

How would the dynamic change if the married kids are working and better off than the parents?

It's difficult for parents to take support form their kids.
But the kids should help pay their way and buy extras.  Such as 'pick up the matza order' and pay for it.  Or do the grocery shopping.
If the parents need help.
If not, maybe the kids just pay their own way, rather than pay the parents way too.

Why?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Why?
That's not the way of the world.  Parents give to children.  I think it's hard on a parent's pride to take from their children.

Going to have to invoke, you need to get out more.  :)
Children (adults) help parents all the time.

In a prefect dream world the parents are the givers and children are the takers. But in reality you're so right, and children should be aware of that. When they're better off than their parents it's totally normal to give back when parents are in need.
