You're an android guy and a techie, yeah? Maybe you can help me out. A few months ago for the first time in my life my email got hacked/ a virus and email were sent out from my address. I changed my passwords etc but since then I don't download anything that has permissions to Contacts/phone calls etc.
Am I being paranoid? I use a third party twitter app for this very reason. But I like having flickr on my phone and there's no other option good enough like the actual flickr app. The problem is they have tons of permissions.
What do you you think?
Its definitely a good idea to limit the amount of apps that can access your info, but you have to decide where to draw the line of convenience vs security... If its from a big company, Facebook/Twitter etc then I will download it, if its a no name then I am more careful. You could flash your phone over to CyanogenMod which includes the ability to revoke permissions per app, see
here.
@sky121: If you want pretty you can wait for the Samsung Galaxy S 3 which is also supposed to be available sometime this summer. Just be aware that the US version will not include quad-core, rather dual.
Honestly, other than the fact that I'm overdue for an upgrade, I'm quite torn between the two (just read up about it today, was unveiled late last week).
BAHayman! HELP!!
Edit: To get things moving, I'm going to preorder the Evo. By the time it arrives I'm sure there will be more info about the Galaxy such as the US specs and if it's coming to Sprint altogether.
There's always 14-day remorse...
IMHO Samsung phones do not feel like they are built well, they just feel crappy. There is also no comparison with the screen, the HTC is amazing and Samsung went the route of a
Pentile display which just dosen't compare at all
The only thing that I really desire from the S3 is the removal battery, but I will have to survive with a portable USB charger like the Zagg Sparq.
Definitely not what BGR thought - they thought it was the one serious knock against the phone.
Then again, if that's the only thing they're really complaining about...
I could have sworn I read that The Verge said it looked pretty decent, but I can't seem to find it so I could've imagined it
Any idea when these things are supposed to ship?
My clueless phone rep assured me mine would arrive by May 10th... But I highly doubt she knew anything as she allowed me to upgrade my Airave line
