Room Darkening window Blinds For Kids Room

I'm sure this a common problem in the summer. My younger kids wake up in the morning together with the birds since their room gets sunny bright in the very early morning. We have regular venetian blinds but with my shallow windows I got no room to put up a room darkening roll under it. What do people do to darken their room besides for installing a rod with a curtain?

If you dont want to spend a whole lot of money just buy those paper temporary shades. They have a light blocking version (gray) and blackout version (black) and cost $5. Keep you existing shades and add these during the summer

My whole house is covered in Blinds.com and SelectBlinds celullars, with blackout cellulars in all of the bedrooms. I've gotten from both just because the way each does sales, one might beat the other on price at different times. Either way, they're way cheaper than any 'name brand', and very customizable. I have bottom-up/top down on many windows, vertical cellulars on my deck french doors, aside from blackout and plain. Happy with all of them.
