I watched his winning speech last night, it was much better than his debate performance (tbh I just watched clips of the debate)

A prepared and rehearsed speech doesn't say much about cognitive function.

I enjoyed the clown. I voted for him twice because there was no alternative. But definitely would have rather had someone in a better mental position than the “very stable genius”.

it didn't seem to me that he was reading word for word from a paper,

my point is based on this speech there's a chance the guy can be coherent in the senate

If he was running for president to me the stroke would be a disqualifier. Only for the reason is that you have to make split second decisions. As a senator that is not needed and AFAIK his thought process is intact.

1 - How do you know his thoughts process is intact? We know the media covered for him, and the one time we got to see him in action he did not seem to be functional.

2 - Even if we were to accept his claim that it is only auditory processing, can he do the things that a senator needs to do? Can he participate in debate on the Senate floor? Can he follow what is going on during meetings? Can he engage in question/answer at hearings?

My point wasn't the level of prep, my point was that there are clearly some things that he can't do regardless of the amount of prep.

Only if the only job of a senator is to give speeches on the Senate floor. In fact there is a lot more to the job.  Will he have closed captioning at confidential briefings?

I agree. I will note that it isn't the same question. One is about how good the candidate is at the job, and one is about basic ability to function.

To use a sports analogy, it's the difference between a guy who doesn't throw well being a QB, and a guy without arms being a QB.

I'll note that Fetterman wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed even before his stroke.

ETA: I just remembered that Walker had mental health issues. Is that what you were referring to?

Oops, I missed the pretzel but see it now. I should remind you that Walker was a great football player that took a massive amount of hits with many to the neck and head. That would make my question fair.

I hear you. I didn't follow the GA race at all, but my understanding was that the criticism of Walker is that he is dumb, not that he has brain damage.
