IMO, that is an unfair criticism.

I can oppose loan forgiveness but take advantage of it if it's offered, without any issues of hypocrisy. I believe that loan forgiveness is terrible for the country and for the economy. But if they are giving it, and everyone else is taking advantage, then the inflation will happen anyways and my loan's forgiveness is negligible in the big picture, so I may as well counter some of the inflation I will suffer by also taking the loan forgiveness.

Doesn't it make sense that I think that Covid checks were wrong for the economy but if they are giving them then I will accept them?
