Getting credit file updated after lease takeover
« on: January 09, 2012, 09:59:56 AM »
Just thought I would pass this info on:

six months ago I transfered a lease out of my name using swap-a-lease.
The balance that was remaining was still showing on my credit report even though the account was correctly labeled as closed.
I entered a quick dispute with TU/EX/Ex and today it came off of my report completely.
My credit usage dropped by $6000 and my FAKO jumped 35 points.

so make sure to followup on old debt and check that it is being correctly reported on your CR.
You can ususally dispute info on your CR when you check it from the big three once a year.
or you can get a free report any time there is "adverse action" like getting denied for a card.
Here are the links for that(from FW)
