AA Executive card

Flying next week on American, Can I upgrade my miles up card to Executive card in order to get lounge access and priority in the airport, and after the trip to downgrade back to no annual fee card?

Recently got this card, when does the 20k loyalty bonus kick in? I already passed 90k for the requirements. Just wondering how long I have to wait, cause trying to get into the globalist status challenge and this will get me over the benchmark for platinum pro
