National Grid and ConEd seem to indicate that if one has Medicaid it makes them eligible for this. Since Medicaid has been renewing automatically since the Covid Emergency started, does that make someone who qualified for Medicaid in 2020 (and is still on it because it gets automatically renewed) eligible?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Try and let us know?
EAP is income based, but utility companies, instead of independently verifying income, use programs such as Mediciad, SNAP, HEAP, etc so it might very well work.

Turns out was already enrolled in EAP until November 2022 from some time in the past. So I guess we will only find out in the future in case Medicaid keeps on renewing automatically.

Any indication as to when the credits are scheduled to post?

For those already enrolled in EAP it should show up sometime in August.

So how do payments made between May 1 and the time the credit comes through affect it, if at all?

If payments made are applied to the balance owed from prior to May 1, the credit will be reduced to take that into account. They will not pay for any balances accrued after May 1.

So I guess the best strategy is just to continue not paying until the credit is applied. Nothing to lose.

Why should you start paying after the credit is applied? Don't you expect another few programs coming?

It's a one time benefit to clear all arrears from before May 1, 2022.

Was curious if they’ll do another one.

You mean for arrears incurred after May 1, 2022?

Yup.
I doubt it. The funds were part of an appropriation that has to be used for covid relief. It's more complicated to justify funds as "covid relief" now that the HHS public health declaration is hanging on by a thread.
