Lost license on vacation
« on: June 20, 2022, 09:51:12 AM »
I flew out of LGA yesterday and must've lost my license on the way. Anyone have any experience with losing a license on vacation? How do I fly back?
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

Can someone get into your house and ship you your passport with next day air?

I think that's my best bet at this point

This was discussed in another thread. You technically don't need an ID to fly domestically. Just be prepared to have it take more time for questioning.

Do you by any chance have the precheck card?

Nope - just a student ID

If you have Clear then there's a good chance that they won't ask to see your ID at all.

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification

Forgot Your ID?
In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name, current address, and other personal information to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You will be subject to additional screening, to include a patdown and screening of carry-on property.

You will not be allowed to enter the security checkpoint if your identity cannot be confirmed, you choose to not provide proper identification or you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process.

TSA recommends that you arrive at least two hours in advance of your flight time.

Been there, done that.

IIRC they asked for 2 other items with my name such as credit card etc. (don't remember exactly what).
Make sure you give yourself some extra time and be courteous and cooperative about it, and you should be just fine.

They probably won't honor your precheck and they'll give you a full screening.

you can download a replacement ID (without pic of course) and print immediately. it should have all your info (which can help verify what you are saying to the agent) and it is likely an extra something good to have with you to rent car, show the tsa agent etc

Can't imagine this is something all government agencies do. Perhaps some states do.

This is where CLEAR comes in HUGE. I had the same thing in FLL- I dropped my license on the front lawn of my host in Miami getting into my car on the way to the airport, I only realized that I didn't have it once I was at the airport and there was less then an hour to my flight. However, since I had CLEAR I had zero issues and made my flight with plenty of time to spare.

Clear is not foolproof. I had that they asked me for ID.
