United explorer card free bag

I apologize if this question was asked but I wasnt sure where to find it- I would like to book a flight on united throught using UR points and I have the united explorer card- is there any way to do this and get the free bag since normally in order to take advantage of that perk you need to use your card to book? Thank you!

You pay $5.60 the tax with the united card and you get your free bag automatically.

I think that's for united mileage tickets. Are you sure that also works for UR?

Right I figured that was for the mileage tix, does anyone know how to get it using chase points?

I guess I misunderstood.
Transfer the UR miles to United and then book from there.
If you book on chase with UR points as payment, you wouldn't get the free luggage because you paid with another credit card.

Short answer is book through Chase portal a cheaper flight and change flight to the flight that's a few dollars more on United's site in order to use the MP card for the difference and get free luggage.

Or show the card at the airport or try to beg them afterwards to refund it (no guarantees).

No, flight is to Mexico so for 2 people it would be around $200 in taxes/fees
