One way of keeping on top of it is by paying it off every month.  Buying Group or not.
If you can't make the payment, don't spend any more on the card. And pay it off before the interest eats you alive.

Talking about going off-topic! You should abort this line of questioning

I’ll be focused: Get every card you can get your hands on, but don’t come crying to us when you’re up to your neck in CC debt and/or get shafted by a buying group or two…
Don’t worry I won’t ask you for any favors

The problem isn’t my worrying, it’s your lackadaisical attitude. If you don’t want to learn from the mistakes of others, go ahead and make them yourself.

P.s. like all other online forums, DansDeals is an online community where people share information. Indeed, sometimes you get more than you bargained for, but if you’re really looking to learn you should start listening to what people are saying to you, instead of projecting onto them what you think they’re saying about you.

Imo it all depends on how you were raised with spending. The friend's of mine that grew up with out education on cc (either because their parents didn't involve them in finances at all or because their parents didn't have a cc) were the ones spending without any sort of cheshbon.

I came up with an idea that may be a safe way of gauging your discipline.

Open a card with a credit limit of $500, at most $1,000. See if you can pay off the entire balance every month for a year or two. If you never carry a balance, then maybe request an increase on the credit limit.

If you max out a $1,000 credit limit, I don't see a reason to think you won't max out a $50,000 credit limit. If you think otherwise, you are likely very disillusioned.

I think it really depends on whether or not Daddy is paying the bill, if yes you lose the discipline aspect, unless he is on top of you, about the spending you did ( on the plus side hopefully he will keep you out of debt) if you are paying that can teach discipline when you realize how much of a bill “just a few swipes” can run you up, on the flip side it is difficult for someone who never had real responsibility to practice discipline. I saw way to many of my friends at the 18-22 age stuck in cc debt. An idea may be to sign up for a cc and give it to your parents/friends/relatives to swipe a minimal amount on it every month, that should build your credit (much more important than points in the long run) while mitigating the risk. It is imperative for this plan to work that they, not you, physically hold the card. Hatzlacha
Stupid question, but does just swiping only $10 a month help pretty well?

Thank you all for your thoughts 💭.
I think I’m pretty good with my credit cards I am a user on a couple of cards so I’m not just stating the game now, well actually I’m starting my own game now.
I’m looking to build points by spending money that I’ll get back like an example would be buying for buying groups so you get paid back and sometimes even a commission and you get point, you can only go wrong if you don’t know how to budget.
Did I hear the words "you can only go wrong if" and "buying groups" in the same sentence?

Buying groups ain't a walk in the park. Did it for a few weeks and then quickly realized it wasn't worth the hassle/risk.

Buddy, you are coming to a forum where people have been member for quite some time, some since around when you were in kindergarten, and expecting that everyone just talk about what you are interested in hearing. You shouldn't be getting snarky at people who can easily be twice your age just because they gave you some advice. All people said was to go ahead but be very careful.

I did not argue and say anyone is wrong and I did thank everyone for their advice and tips.

18 years ago, I thought the same thing. Experience is the best teacher. Being smart is acknowledging that fact, and using other people's experiences to your advantage.
Failing at maintaining Lurker status.
