Some tix on Points, rest with cash
« on: July 02, 2022, 11:07:50 PM »
Hi there,

Hope this makes sense - looking for some advice on how to proceed.

I have 42K Aeroplan points (and have a Canadian Amex Aeroplan card and a Chase Aeroplan card).
I have a 50K Aeroplan voucher (from the Chase card).
I have 110K Chase Sapphire points.
I have 37 Aeroplan eUpgrades.

I am looking to book 3 tix to EY with Aeroplan points for the first week in December (YYZ to TLV) . I almost have enough points for 3 tix in economy (I'll get the rest of the points soon) but would prefer to do the following, if possible:

Book 2 tix with points in Economy Latitude for about 90K points each and a third ticket, on the same reservation, with cash (it's a business expense and can write it off).

Questions:
1) Can I book the two tix with points and add a third ticket to the reservation (cash ticket)?
2) Can I apply points I get between now and the trip to all three tix to upgrade the cabin?
3) If the answer to #2 is yes, is it better to use the eUpgrades than to use additional points?

Any direction or ideas would be appreciated.
