I walked straight to gate security but then they sent me back 100 feet to get a sticker on my passport. No stickers on carry ons.
Not sure why there were no signs saying everyone has to 1st go to F section.
Lady first asked a few security questions before putting sticker on passport

Yes. All you need is a boarding pass - pdf is also fine

It was area W as tavster mentioned. I mistakenly wrote F.
It was a tiny line , not the regular line.

Any more recent dp on how early to arrive at the airport? I have a 11:45am flight Monday.
Also, I have a duffel bag, where is the separate line for that? By checkin or security?

I arrived at the airport at 9am. 45 min from the door till the gate.

I had this exact date and time a week ago.
Family of 7. Arrived at 8:30. Lines were to the door but moving. Security officers were going up and down the line pulling people out.
Then we got pulled out after 20 min. I was like, oh boy...here goes nothing. Turns out they were just trying to expedite the line . We did a walk and talk. He called someone to bring over tags and we were on to checkin.
No was in the sky priority lane. Then onto duffel bag loading. Security, passport control.
We were through by 9:30.
Spent the next 1.5 hours exploring the play area in each concourse

Maybe in case there is an upsurge and they bring back restrictions they want people to be used to it. Only thing i can think of. Or very possibly there is no reason it's just gov't.

Could take a try or two. I did them this week. I got insurance too, because I'm a rule follower. Didn't seem like a bad deal and will be very worthwhile if Chas veshalom any luggage gets lost or anyone needs a doctor

Stats from tonight.
LY005, party of 10
Arrived 845 for a 1 am flight.
Line 1 40 minutes. By the time we were at the front  the line was easily double as long as it had been when we came.
Line 2 10 minutes, and they took all the duffels at the check in line
Line 3  10-15 minutes
Line 4 (passport) 5 minutes of picking up kids so the camera can get their face and not the person holding them.

When did the absurd separate line requirement for duffel bags begin and what's the reason for it?
Is there a list of which bags need to go to that line?
