So apparently the cops were at his house for this fellow twice, once for attempted suicide and once for threats of violence towards others.

Oh yeah, this was *before* he legally purchased multiple firearms.

You don’t have have to draw the exact line of where sanity ends and insanity begins. At the very least draw the line where everyone agrees. If the cops convince someone from jumping off a bridge, would anyone want him to be able to purchase a gun the next day? Should someone that has a physically violent record be allowed to have a gun? You changed your life and want to get a gun? Wait 2-3 years and you can undergo evaluation/review to get a permit.

It’s inexcusable that our government hasn’t figured out how to block a guy like this from purchasing any firearms. They actually confiscated all his knives at that point, had he had guns they would have confiscated them as well. So, they can confiscate a guy’s weapons but they’re helpless when it comes to blocking him from purchasing them. This guy should’ve immediately been entered into a federal database, He was over the red line wherever you draw it. It’s completely ridiculous.

Thats not for here. Charleston church shooting & Buffalo supermarket shooting were also the talk of the country.

Do you really not understand the difference between gang violence, shootings in crime ridden areas, and the killing of people innocently going about their day (not to say that the people in the other scenarios deserved being shot)?

The racial aspect is a part of it, but there is a different fundamental distinction that causes these cases to bother people more.

Most people feel that they can protect themselves from the gang shootings you are describing. They can avoid certain neighborhoods etc. Even if this isn't fully true, that's how people feel.

When it is a mass shooter people are more scared because they feel more like it could have been them. The randomness of the attacks make it that much more scary
