Do you perhaps know whether I can open a joint account with my wife if I already have one? Want to open one for her, to get $200 from a coupon. I understand that if my account is fee free an her account has me as a joint user, then hers will automatically be fee free as well. I tried to open one for her online  with me as a joint and it didn't allow since I already have an account.

Any ideas?

Went into local branch and was told that I need to have 15K in account to get off fees for joint users automatically.

Is it confirmed and current that AP counts as a DD to avoid monthly fee?
If you don't trust me, than who else might win your trust? huh?  ;)

Does anyone know whether a BB payment directly to a checking account classifies as a DD to avoid monthly fees same a AP does?

I am confident it does.
I know for sure that with Citi checking accounts, any automatic credit would count as a DD (for extra monthly TY points). I transfer $10 from chase to citi monthly to get those points.
I believe Chase would be the same - any automatic credit.

I think u mean $1500, that is the requirement if u don't want to be hit with the monthly fee.

Hi,

is it possibile to open a Chase Total Checking account online, even though there are no Chase banks in my state? Or would I be able to go to a Chase Bank branch in another state nearby and open a checking account even though my address would be listed as another state? Also does Chase to credit check when opening an account?

Basically I want to transfer $1500 from my TD Bank account into the Chase one, keep it open for 6 months, then close it and take the $1500 plus the $200 (bonus I get) out of it?

1) Why not try? Shouldn't be a problem.
2) Most of the time, no. But it 'could' happen.
3) Cool idea.
