These stories happen all the time. Husband offers get with conditions and wife doesn't like them. Wife and family call them get refusers.
Case in point, Boca (iykyk) S offered the get with his share of the business he started with his father in law. FIL didn't want to give it so got Ephraim G to issue a siruv. He wasn't a get refuser.

So he refused to give a get because he had some financial demands? Why was he correlating the giving of the get to the business?

This is not the 13th post on this topic on this forum, nor is this forum the only exposure that people have had with this issue in their lives. Point is that "get refusals" and "agunos" generally aren't as black and white as they may sound. There are many ways to misbehave and mistreat someone during a divorce, and deny them what's rightfully theirs. Refusing to give (or accept, which is just as common) a get is just one of them. Two wrongs may not make a right (although there are times that it does), but it certainly makes it harder to paint one side as the villain and one side as the innocent victim. Life is complex and messy, and divorces extremely so.

I don't disagree. My beef is with public disrespect to Rabbanim and Batei Din. It's a general beef, not specific to you or this topic

I hate this take. Yes, many times it’s true. But there are plenty of one-sided stories (whether in favor of the husband or wife) and it became a hobby to dismiss and invalidate their plight with a snarky comment.

And since we don't know what's really going on, it's hard to believe any of the sob stories.

He didn't refuse a get. He gave the get in bais din and they refused to pick it up until their demands were met. BIG difference.
