spg "good will" points
« on: January 10, 2012, 03:31:06 AM »
I don't know if this is important to anyone, but here goes.....
I just transferred 9000 MR points to SPG. It converts to 2997 points. I wanted to use them for a night at the Le Meridian @ the dead sea. Problem was that I needed 3000 Spg's. I asked them if I could buy 3 spg points, they said minimum is 500 for about $18. I asked if theres a manager that maybe could give or lend me 3 measly points. Th manager said no (gasp). I called back and a very nice and fast talking FEMALE AMERICAN CSR offered (without my asking) to give me 3 "good will" points. I know its not alot, but I now was able to book the room and didn't hafta spend any money or convert any more then I needed to. ;D

It is fortunate that you are able to get your 3 goodwill points. However, it is frustrating that there seems to be a disagreement between the decision of the manager and the CSR.  What happens if  you were not able to get your 3 goodwill points?

I've found that most CSRs have the ability to give you a lot more than 3 points, just "for being a good customer"

i had 53,602 aa miles that expired, and to reinstate them the costs are $200 for up to 50k, and $400 for up to 100k. i told them i only wanted to reinstate 50k for the $200, and she put me on hold for 2 minutes. she came back and told me her supervisor allowed her to to give me the whole thing. i didnt even ask! on her own, she asked. now thats a good csr

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I really feel that when a man calls hell be much more successful if the csr is female. I have extensive experience in this ( I wont say what I do for a living) and time and time again, I've been proven correct.
When a woman calls she will almost always be more successful with a man, and if she flirts and plays what I call "damsel in distress" its even better. I have told many females (and a couple of rebbetzins!) to do that, and they've been successful!

My experience with Chase SP csr's, when requesting goodwill points which I do often, the woman are always very stingy or refuse outright where the men are much easier and give big amounts. They are probably less scared...

I can tell the same from my experience. Woman are a lot more likely to follow the rules they have been given than men do.
I went in once to Chase, looking to open up an account. The female banker gave me a list of things I should bring along to be able to open the account, instead I just went one desk to get a male, and the account has some how been opened.

I just noticed that my Amex SPG card which I signed up for several years ago is now changing from the introductory APR rate that I had when I signed up to 2.90%.  I dont have any balances on my credit cards and never had so this really wont be affecting me.

BUT, I am thinking about calling to see if they can offer some goodwill points because of the upcoming change in my APR plan which will make a big difference to me (as far as they are concerned at least).  Anyone have any experience with this type of thing?  Worth going for it?

Advice?
