Was wondering about the psychology of getting "likes" on the forum as an anonymous person from anonymous people.
It's interesting human behavior that many seem to crave.
Basic, old time, operant conditioning, rewarding for behavior, but this taps in to the physiological way of how certain parts of our brain work. This is how psychology/anatomy/physiology/neurology are all really related.
If someone gets rewarded for doing something, they will most likely do it again or at least, it will be easier for them to do it again. When people get likes, they most likely will continue to post more often to get more of those likes.
From the site perspective: The more people participate, the more popular the site, the more advertising revenue at best (or importance/gaiva at least) the site/owners will have. They want us to give/get likes.
From the poster's perspective: "Someone likes me. I am doing something right. It feels good to be liked and to do something right. I will do it again. I want more." We actually have a place in our brain that is connected to craving/addiction. The more it is used, the more it wants .
