With the tri-state in the midst of a major heat wave, I thought I would bring this up.

According to the new Yeshivish norm, the minute a boy becomes Bar Mitzvah, he will only ever wear long-sleeve button-down white shirts with very limited exceptions such as when playing sports.

I'm just trying to ask an innocent question without sparking debate as to why this is; this seems to have started at most 10-15 years ago. Indeed, just look at the old Camp Agudah videos.

@YitzyS
In Chabad yeshivas up until the 90s, bochurim wore colored button down shirts.
There's constant pressure to move right and conform more.

+1. When I was in a pretty yeshivish place mid 90s, there were guys coming into 9th grade with striped shirts, which disappeared by pesach latest.
Now must elementary schools have the boys wearing white shirts from 6th grade on.

So I spent the last 12 hours trying to figure out why I was tagged in the OP's post. Still can't figure out why. Can I get a hint?

Because you seem to be an expert in Yeshivish affairs, particularly Lakewood.

Hold on, I'm in middle of adding that to my resume...

Okay, here's my response.

I don't know the precise reason for this but I will share that my 6-year-old son this Shabbos refused to wear short sleeves because a neighbor's 7-year-old made fun of him for it.

IINM RCK would comment even about children wearing short sleeves.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Lubab?
Crazy how many have moved here this summer, but I can't believe how far away some are moving. That's what happens when they don't visit in the winter. Gonna be some big regrets in a few months when North Pole arrives.
