What about if someone made a trust? Just curious.

Not sure how this would help since taxes are still due and FWIU with lottery winnings the state shaves off the taxes and gives the winner what’s left.

It’s an attempt to hack the odds.

For you I’ll clarify that I’m referring to odds I’m destined to win $470mm vs. odds I’m destined to win < $10mm. Either way, the odds are infinitesimally low :D
But then you need 50 people who are all destined to win… may be just as hard or even harder… who knows… you can always buy a separate ticket just in case and promise 49/50 to tzedakah…

A trust isn’t tied to your name. So how would NJ tax you.

I’ve heard of trusts being used for winners to remain anonymous, but the taxes still get paid.

How would NJ know if someone in their state won?

They buy in FL use a trust to claim.

I think the upcoming lottery has a positive expected valuation so the larger a pool you participate in the better the return. Hypothetically purchasing every possible combination would be a good investment.

Hypothetically purchasing every possible combination would be a good investment.

Even with calculating the remaining tickets out there for chances of being multiple winners?
