Exactly. As a writer, I would have extremely valuable advice to offer that wouldn't be obvious to an amateur. For instance, "It is important to spell the name of your site correctly when trying to promote it." But now OP will never learn the secrets

That was EXACTLY Yuneeq's point. This forum has some of the most incredible generosity and kindness you could imagine. Yet often you see complaints like this that people are overly harsh. The answer is simple, when people detect dishonesty and rudeness on a forum where you're asking for people's time and knowledge for free, people don't take kindly to that.

OP screwed up. They were dishonestly trying to promote themselves. Of course people will jump on that. If OP would come clean, apologize, and try starting over, people will probably lay off.

This is not asking for a favor/help. This is being a deceptive pain in the neck....and that's putting it politely. Not a great way to promote your business. Most prefer doing business with honest folk.

I agree with you, I would not have done it that way and it certainly didn’t benefit him to try to sneak in, but there is a way to point that out civilly with out a full on gang attack.(again, not to sound too much like a preacher, it is the 3 weeks, a little brotherly love can’t hurt)
