I think today was restock day.

My supermarket restocked everything besides for the plain yogurts :(

No plain yogurt at Kahan's in CH this morning.  :(

(I did not see any plain yogurts not at the farm and not in the grocery)

I guess no plain yogurts in the recent production batches.

we don't choose to spend extra on food. to get those foods produced at a kosher standard we want already costs $$$ . to, on top of that, invest in crafting etc. , while still being able to maintain the kosher standards, who could afford it?
and would that be enough people to support the product?

Personally, I disagree.

People may prefer to spend less on food, but most tolerate it pretty well and allocate a lot of money for foods. If this would be a major pain point, people would put their foot down and purchase just the bare minimums. Heimish communities in the tristate area probably have a lot more bakeries per capita than other areas. We aren't satisfied with just mass-produced pastries that sit on supermarket shelves for months. Certainly there are other examples. At the end of the day, we want better.

Agree. The proliferation of high end dining establishments in the frum tri-state (at least, elsewhere as well?), increasing providers of kosher exotic vacations/experiences, etc. etc. all indicate there is an increasingly strong market for quality/luxury brands. Although they are indeed starting to appear (look no further than this threads topic for an example).

Sadly, a lot of places marketed as high end are just overpriced glorified fast food places

Agreed, though I specifically used bakeries as an example because those have been around for a lot longer.

A market for fast food places or a market specifically for faux high-end fast food?

Yes, and hopefully the robustness these markets have shown in recent years will continue to encourage artisans and other quality suppliers to produce and market their products so the actual discerning consumer can enjoy.

No plain yogurt at Kahan's in CH this morning.  :(
In BP I found in the grocery yesterday
The plain had an expiration on 8/6 vs the other's 8/24

Restock day!

Hello, this is insane! Plain yogurt, vanilla extract, super ripe mango, cinnamon, toasted coconut chips. I'm trying to remember whether I've ever had a better dessert at any restaurant.

Just to show the texture and thickness, it's almost like whipped cream.

I stock up on them and throw a few in the freezer for a rainy day. They're better then ice cream.

How do they defrost? Texture retains its creaminess or does it become clumpy?

Kahan's definitely.

I believe Empire Kosher also carries it.
Thanks.

I tried the maple last week and today I bought the vanilla.

While the vanilla is unlike any yoghurt I've had, the maple is the clear winner for me.

I haven't yet tried the plain, am I missing out or should I stick with maple?

Thanks wayfe for introducing this to DDF!
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-

I prefer unsweetened yogurt- so I go with plain. If you generally eat sweet yogurt, you probably won't go for the plain.

I love plain yogurt with fresh fruit for flavor and sweetness.
