I was told by a Orthodox Jewish native of Chicago that Des Plaines does not have an Orthodox Jewish community. That obviously does not preclude a non-religious Jew.

IINM my daughter was a counselor in a camp there one summer.

In all seriousness, the person who told me was not-affiliated with Chabad, and possibly would not have known if there was a Chabad center there. I guess I should never assume a place does not have a frum community...

I can tell you that if one of the Scheimans ended up with this, it would make me extremely happy. They are outstanding people and well deserving.

I purposely buy my lotto tickets (not very often) in towns/areas where there's not a frum community.
