not saying they arent taking hits, but when trying to judge how a govt like russia or china sees the price of war, im not convinced that they feel it is too big of a price to pay, or even such a large price at all
they dont look at loss of life or world condemnations (or @CountValentine calling them out  ) the way most western countries perceive it

i dont know if it will make them think twice about actually invading, but it probably will make them be prepared for their reaction to our reactions

China has a lot more to hang over us that I don't see any lessons for China other than not to worry. I can run my car without Russian gas, and haven't encountered anything else from Russia today. Yet the invasion continues. Now look around for a single day and you will find yourself using/reliant on products that were collectively manufactured via thousands of Chinese factories.

We will be on our hands and knees in a heartbeat.

It goes the other way too, China needs the west to buy its products. Russia OTOH has been able to continue selling oil and gas at nearly the same rate as before the war. Most of the reduction is Russia playing its cards against the west.
