Oh trust me, JJ and I went over all of these and then some. Luckily we have an executive editor that asked us how we would feel if this were us or our grandfather and we took 2 steps back on the reporting.

A similar incident happened once when I was flying on a Southwest flight from Buffalo to Chicago Midway. The crew wrapped the elderly person who had the accident in blankets and tried to sit him as far away from other passengers as possible. Obviously it was a very short flight so the flight was not diverted. It wasn't pleasant having that smell on a close plane for about an hour. I emailed Southwest customer service and was surprised they didn't offer a $50 or $100 flight voucher.

I had a similar story. Flying into HNL on DL in J, the 2nd meal service had just begin and I commented rather loudly to my wife how nasty the food smelled and I'm glad I wasn't eating it. She quickly shushed me and beckoned toward the seat across the aisle who had just gotten out of his seat. He unfortunately soiled himself whilst sleeping. Luckily the flight was almost over at that point, but it was not pleasant.

There was obviously something missing from the story on ddms until I got here.
Usually you write things clearer, and was surprised you didn't further investigate why it was a medical emergency, yet no ambulance.

Agreed- why omit the part that the gentleman soiled himself and upset the passenger(s)- this is literally the entire reason why the plane was diverted.

Funny that prior to that it stated a 2:45 am departure, despite there being a takeoff ban between 1-4:45.
Probably crew timed out.

We left the gate early. Right before takeoff the pilot announced that there's a mechanical issue that needed a quick fix, and returned to the gate.
At 2:00am they announced that they reached the curfew at 1:40 but got it extended to 2:00, but that was still not enough time and the flight was cancelled.
Everyone needed to do immigration again and luggage has still not come out. Hotels in the area are fully booked but they said that they are working on something.
Meanwhile flight has been rescheduled to 6:00pm and everyone is being automatically rebooked.
