Bank to redeem paper bonds
« on: August 02, 2022, 11:41:42 PM »
Hi all!
I have a bunch of U.S. series EE bonds that have matured, and I want to redeem them.

You can mail them into the treasury. But I would consider that a last choice, since I don't want to have to pay for postage, and I'm a little nervous sending it with the USPS.

Many banks don't let you redeem them there anymore due to counterfits. (Like TD used to , but not anymore.)
When I went into Chase 90 days ago they told me only if you have an account with them for 90 days. I just went in, and they told me it has to be a year.

My question is, has anyone redeemed bonds in a bank recently (like the past month or so)? If so, can you please let me know which bank?

thank you!!

First Midwest Bank which is now Old National bank. I am a customer there.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

thank you for your response!

I guess I should have said that I'm located in NYC.
It looks like they don't have any branches anywhere close. Thank you though!!

I would just make a quick call to banks by you. Don't skip the small local ones as sometimes they are the most accommodating.

Thanks for the reminder. I have one I got as a bar mitzva gift I need to redeem.

It's a shame you can't easily get paper bonds anymore
