Weekend Layover
« on: January 10, 2012, 04:11:37 PM »
I am trying to fly to Israel but am planning on leaving on a Thursday. The indirect flights are cheapest, but dont get in before shabbos. I was thinking it would be nice to spend the weekend in one of those cities, but whenever I try to book a flight like that (laying over until Saturday night/Sunday) the price skyrockets from the original price. Is that normal? Is there a better way to search for this type of flight (right now trying multi-leg trips)?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

It is normal. Most of the cheap tickets have a rule that the stop can only be a maximum of 24hrs. More than 24hrs it bumps up to a higher fare
