i know im pay $20 more then other companies, but i was told by two people that made claims that it was hassle free, so it was worth the extra $$$

How does that make it easier to compare? You just added a variable to the equation...

+1, Ameriprise is amazing! They gave out checks for the food that went bad in your fridge during the huge snowstorm / power outage a month or 2 ago. BTW they offer a "Home Media Package" for $40 a year that covers TV, Laptop, Cell Phones etc. When liquid spilled on my laptop I had a check in my mailbox by the end of the week. Thats the only reason I haven't switched to USAA yet even though they are cheaper, although I am hearing good things about USAA as well...

How much was the check if you don't mind me asking. Because usually when it's above $5,000 the insurance usually looks for loopholes to see how they can get out of paying. I've seen it happen to someone once.

That makes sense now. I don't mean to be noisy but I just wanted to see if what I saw happen was just a fluke or is it the consistent way insurances operate. Thanks.

Because that's called insurance fraud and you could go to jail? Or maybe because it's stealing and people have moral qualms with that?

Wondering about all the posts about small claims...

With auto insurance having a record of making claims can adversely affect rates going forward. You often want to avoid smaller claims (an additional reason to choose higher deductibles).

Anyone know if it's the same with renters insurance?
