Drunken parties are wrong at any time (as posted above from פוקח עיוורים). Definitely nothing whatsoever to do with טועמיה.

And if one is in a party so close to Shabbos and wanting to call it טועמיה, let them just practice תוספת שבת מלפניה and refrain from driving.

And people get home drunk right before shabbos and go into shabbos drunk and without preparing for shbabos? Also, I guess the people hosting these parties have wives and families who are okay with drunken party in their house right before shabbos??

Drinking requires a balance that takes many years to hone, if you can ...

I actually have cut my drinking almost entirely to Shabbat and it's really difficult.

You have to learn to pace yourself etc

I love love beer, my stomach doesn't. I love beer breweries so I try to make it count with an IPA flight or one pint.

My brain still reminds me that in my youth I could drink 6 bottles of beer easy but I check myself fast .

On the other hand, I haven't smoked in 16 years and still have dreams I start again and tell people in my dreams that I'm not really addicted... The pull of smoking is insanely strong.

What no one mentioned is that the driver was 20...who will bear responsibility for this? Providing alcohol to a minor?

It really should be about safe driving, not tolerating reckless drivers etc

And go from there, it's a major problem in society etc but the Jewish community has ways of putting pressure to stop reckless behavior.

It's not very new. I remember staff in camp doing this, both when I was a camper, and later as a staff member myself. And I'm pretty sure the staff members when I was a camper didn't invent the concept, so we're probably going back 40+ years.
