Stuck in a hotel with censors for shabbos

Does anyone have any tricks to use a staircase in a hotel that has censors for the lights when you walk in?

From a quick search of that thread it seems like there's no magical solution:

Find another hotel? Any ground floor rooms or alternate staircases?

A dimmer can be mutar lechtichala on shabbos, depends on the type of bulb (intensifying an electric current is not a problem, only if it intensifies a flame or closes additional circuits).

no its an actual psak from R Ribiats 39 melachos book that one should close their eyes if a sensor triggers the light so as not to benefit from the light. Obviously its different to go in lichatchila

You can put a piece of tape over it, but it might get removed if the light doesn't turn on... YMMV
