Yes, Quartzite is the gold standard.

Did you seal it? How often do you reseal?

Do you put hot pots down without protection?

Any staining issues?

Do you have dark or light color?

They said we didn't have to reseal.
Had it for over 5 years.
We put hot directly on it.
No staining.
Light, medium, and dark colors.

Yes, Quartzite is the gold standard.
Who's gold standard?  :)

Quartz
Pros
Slightly less expensive than quartzite
Comes in virtually any color
Easier to maintain and more stain-resistant than quartzite
Cons
Less heat-resistant than quartzite
Composed of synthetic material, making it less sustainable than quartzite

Quartzite
Pros
Made with 100% natural material, making it more sustainable than quartz
Slightly harder and more durable than quartz
More heat-resistant than quartz
Cons
Slightly more expensive than quartz
Limited color options
Higher maintenance than quartz
They said we didn't have to reseal.
I would check into that.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

For Jews that hold that Granite/Quartzite can be kashered but Quartz/Marble can't :)

And now I sense this thread turning into another halachic debate ;D

I thought a porous material would be more problematic.

I actually have no need to kasher for pesach, but I did have that little concern to be able to kasher in case of the very odd chance of contamination if hot dairy/meat.

Ultimately I googled "quartz hot pot mark" and "quartzite hot pot mark"

If you go from stove top or oven directly to countertop you will have issues with quartz, but your big problem will be someone getting burned thinking it is not hot.

At any rate, marble is certainly a bigger question. And it's less durable and can stain.

That what I do because kashering anyways does nothing, but I close the hot water and don't put anything hot on it

How do you go about it?

A while back I was watching someone test a few countertop options for stain resistance be leaving samples in the sun with tomato and other staining liquids and seeing which came clean after.

I don’t recall all the options (quartz and granite and some others), only the white quartzite sample we had was the only one that easily cleaned with zero staining after the abuse.

I think they pulled a fast one on you. Quartzite stains easier than quartz.

It’s more porous?
