Speaking of stop signs in Monsey...
I came to a complete stop at an all-way stop sign (on W Maple, intersecting Carlton). Some yoyo slowed down a bit on Carlton and then continued driving through the intersection. I started driving as if he wasn't there (very slowly, but not looking at him). He short-stopped in the middle of the intersection while angrily honking. He did finally come to a complete stop, so I proceeded to safely drive through the intersection. He kept his hands on the horn for a long time after that.
Was I wrong for my somewhat aggressive maneuver and my response to him (which I won't mention here)? Yes, but at least I know it. Did I have right-of-way? Absolutely! He probably thinks I'm the jerk who doesn't know how to drive.
The drivers who show absolutely no consideration for anybody else on the road (pedestrians or vehicles) piss me off. They're probably mostly males under 25, so there's hope that with time, they'll learn.
Don't blow through stop signs.
Don't honk incessantly at somebody driving 30 in a 30.
Don't tailgate (especially at high speeds).
Don't stop in the intersection blocking the side street.
Don't pass school buses with their stop signs extended.
Stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Park in between the white lines.
Don't park in the handicapped spaces if you're not handicapped - even if you're just waiting (for 30 minutes or 2 minutes).
I don't care if people break the law, just be considerate. If I had the ability to issue tickets as a private citizen, they'd call Karens WAMs.
