What would you do?
« on: August 31, 2022, 01:56:09 PM »
My uncle and his business partner are closing their joint amex card. Amex says can’t transfer points to personal account. Now they want to transfer them to use for flights to Israel.
Who would you transfer to without a specific flight picked out?
he prefers nonstop.
Virgin has decent option but taxes are lot
Delta prices vary but bargains can be found with cheap taxes
Flying blue is all over the place

Thoughts?

For business I'd give up on nonstop and transfer to Aeroplan. Not sure for economy.

Read Dan's post yesterday on the website.
Buy a business class ticket on Amex Travel pay with points and you get 25 to 33% bonus.
You can then cancel and have money on Elal bank

Won’t be flying until end of 2023 (bar mitzvah) so too early to book those tickets and they don’t want to keep card open and pay annual fee

The voucher is good past then.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

For that he would have to keep the card open another month to get the 35% back....

True. Plus he would end up with points again.
Didn't think about this.
