We actually replaced our doors a couple years back with ones that have the magnetic latch, and my experience has been that they are way better than any kind of lockset I experienced in the U.S.... literally can pull the door shut with my pinky finger, minimal effort.

The good Israeli doors come from Italy, and for example, the pocket doors are easy better than anything available here. I'm a contractor and actually have been talking to the Italian company about importing them.

Central A/C vs split units? I'm not sure I would recommend that. There are advantages to split units.

Split units don't usually have vents in bathrooms and hallways as mentioned above

Getting back to the off-topic topic of toilets, that reminds me of my time in college, when I casually mentioned to my roommates about how it would make so much sense to have "flush level 1" and "flush level 2" in toilets.  It became a running joke in the dorm about the bathroom status (i.e. after flush level 2, give it some time...).  This was before I had ever traveled abroad and was completely unaware that such a thing actually existed.

my point about american toilets is that in my experiance, us toilets are constructed that the primary catchment area for solid waste is covered in water, so the detrius goes in there and doesnt dirty the walls of the toilet, while the tiny amount of water in israeli toilets is missituated so that any time anyone uses it, it requires the use of a toilet brush to properly clean it.

I know that I will definitely be adding a inside lock to the maamad in the apartment we've bought in the Shomron... (First row to the Yishuv's fence...)
Should there be any changes to the type of soragim or adding them in towns where previously it was thought unnecessary due to low crime rates?

Shomron... it's in Binyamin - Gush Tamonim/Dolev, which should be kept in any possible peace deal. Almost all the roads (aside from the first couple of KM) are basically Jewish only.
We bought it on paper and its almost ready. We're part of a new chareidi kehilla being started by the same people and rabbanim who built the very successful kehila in Tel Tzion.
A number of chashuve respected Expat rabanim have bought there for their children...
It's 20 minutes (I know, w/o traffic, but it's really doable) from Kiryat Sefer at prices 2/3 or half...
I want a smaller kehilla with a certain spectrum of dati people, and not just monolithic black, but not too "modern" either but near the merkaz.
My uncle was part of the vanguard that built Mattityahu, so I grew up with the concept of building and living on a yishuv.
Location in the Yishuv...
The masterplan for the yishuv has additional neighborhoods being built beyond our building, but hasn't been done yet. within the yisuv its a good location...
Price again. What we bought, in BS would be at least 2-3 times what we paid, and in JLM 3-4+ times.

What traumatized you?

We did do a quick look there, but it realy wasn't what we were looking for (at least the Lakewood project there).
We were davka not looking for a Chutznik kehila... rather a mainstreamish israeli litvish one (though we will have a good amount of children and grandchildren of chutznikim in our kehila).
Other strikes we had against pursuing MA further included its relative remoteness from other yishuvim, that the major town that you will be relying for public services is Tekoa/Efrat which are a little to modern for our tastes... In other words gush etzion wasn't calling our name...
