Time to switch to pareve cholent?

People put chinese leftovers in their cholent? Those people might be better off switching to pareve…

Why is it always the chinese restaurants?
75% batter 1/4 pound chicken that was too easy.

Does this statement mean that there was definitely non-kosher meat/poultry served?

I wonder if OK is downplaying in a safe matter because they don't want to deal with a load on their back. Seriously, just tell us what you found and admit that it was treif.

If I understand Rav Reuvain Feinsteins opinion correctly, he feels no tshuva or even kashering pots is necessary in these situations. Unless the equation is changed by the owner not being Jewish. In any case as pointed out he’s a דעת יחיד in that.

Bottom line - a non-Jewish store relies on strict kashrus controls because there is no ne’emanus. Saying they don’t trust him anymore is saying they didn’t have proper controls. (Experts can CMIIW)

If only the mashgiach temidi held the key there would be no scandal.

Well, his job is representing the restaurants.

Yup

My point was to question what he said earlier, not the OK.

Oy

Quote
This has been OK policy at meat establishments for over 25 years. In a meat establishment where a reliable mashgiach tmidi controls all the meat entering and leaving the premises, and has sole possession of the keys to the store and refrigerators, a shocking story like this could never have occurred. And as a consumer, you of course have the power to demand, check and actually verify the presence of the mashgiach tmidi.

What happened here? Did they hire an incompetent (or worse) masgiach, or was there some kind of other lapse?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

These jokes are really insensitive and in poor taste. One should be nauseated and saddened by the fact that multitudes of frum people likely ate neveilos. There were shuls in Lakewood that ordered from them for events so even those who never went to manalapan may have unwittingly consumed neveilos. It would have been self evident to these same posters not to crack a joke about someone’s relatives who died of Covid lo aleinu. This is similarly tragic and should not be treated in such a cavalier way.

We don’t yet know for a fact that anyone ate neveilos. Also, someone unwittingly eating not-Kosher food with while trusting a Kosher symbol is serious, sad, unfortunate, and probably tragic, but cannot compare it to death, let alone (early-?)COVID deaths.

Obviously that isn't supposed to be the case, and my question is whether the lapse was on the masgiach side or was it a lack of proper procedures?

Or for instance the owner was “breaking in” after hours, not saying that’s what happened, but it could be one possibility. e.g. he somehow got a hold of keys he wasn’t supposed to have.

Acc. to Yudel, lack of proper procedures. People forget he was the original hechsher there and is very familiar.

From the blog post,
"The family has two kosher chinese restaurants in Brooklyn, one in Fairlawn, (one in Elizabeth) one non-kosher in philly."

Elizabeth must be NKS. What are the Brooklyn ones?
Sure hope there's a thorough investigation into them all.

I too am very curious to know what the Brooklyn ones are, are all Brooklyn Chinese restaurants owned by non-Jews now suspect?

Why doesn't the OK feel any responsibility to the public to elaborate on what happened there. All we are getting is, wash your utensils and we are shutting down the store.
No transparency / accountability at all?
Heads should roll.
