Interesting as no help for low-income families.

Now look what's showing up on my home page.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Point being?
For first or second statement?

1 - For private schools (especially religious ones) not offering assistance (food programs) I find interesting.
2 - Shows the diversity of my home page.  :)

They fact check.
Meaning, they check for facts that are in line with their hashkafa?
Is it at all possible for you to agree that the NYT article was written with malicious intent? If yes, what would it take for you to get there? I'm not saying that I'll convince you, I'm just wondering if you are unwilling to go there, even if it's the truth.

One thing that I think has gotten lost here is that this is not simply about funding. It's about threatening to put parents in jail if they send their kids to Yeshivas that don't pass the requirements of the state lords. Yes, the same state that has a failing PS system in their largest city and isn't worrying about that - instead attacking a far superior school system in the same city. Absurd? Perhaps, I guess it depends who you ask.

You want their money then follow their rules.
or at least do t be surprised when this happens.
Its actually our money, that we pay in school taxes.
not the way life works.

School choice is a thing
in some places.
Even so, when you take someone's money, don't be surprised when they dictate how you spend it. Especially when you know good and well that they don't share your (our) values.
That's all.
Doesn't matter who's right or wrong. It's a reality of life.

so when they take our money for taxes presumably for education they shouldn't be surprised when we ask nicely for them to spend it on the schools we deem ok for our kids to attend?
agreed

Why would they agree? Especially when people don't vote, lobby, etc.

you can ask but that's simply not the way taxes work and think most here understand that

Yiu can lobby for specific interests but then you cma also expect some sort oversight (no matter how corrupt) to come along with that.
Paying taxes is not a shopping trip in the supermarket.
No matter how much I disagree and vehemently oppose the taxes.
I'm not justifying their cause as I specifically wrote. Just clarifying a reality.

I'm wondering, isn't the BoR ruling Today so much more important than this article?

I guess it depends on the school as some private schools will subsidize the programs themselves.

I asked several times if the money figure was correct would you agree with the two statements and don't know if that is a yes or no.

It is like I asked about the test scores, and no one really answered. This is information the parents should have.
I answered several times, it’s misleading and missing context. As with many questions accuracy is not all or nothing but rather a question of degrees. If you force it into a pigeonhole of yes or no it’s closer to no.

For details on education, yes. For your chances of getting randomly assaulted in NY, no.

Thanks for your insight, it is appreciated. I am going to say that I disagree with you here. Simcha is making the point that the NYT is trying to paint Chareidim as money sucking people who don't educate their kids, while he is demonstrating that is false by showing that A. QoL is way higher in frum neighborhoods than in neighborhoods with mostly PS school attendees, B. The education given brings results as demonstrated by earning potentials and overall well being. C. The money spent per pupil (even including all funds) is far less than what NYS spends for PS students (which is not even including those funds) and so on and so forth.

@biobook I’m legitimately curious why you feel the voter registration smear was included, whether it was useful and relevant information and if it was specifically designed to denigrate the community.

Just trying to understand your position. Since closer to no it must be something other than money that you disagree with the two statements. Care to elaborate or if not no problem?
