Can I ask how they turned out? I am mainly asking about their religious beliefs.
Among my closest relatives: All orthodox, some more modern orthodox, some more yeshivish.
Among my more distant relatives: Almost all strongly Jewish-affiliated, a few orthodox, others conservative or reform.

Rafi isn’t Satmar.
The main Chabad school doesn't have secular studies.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Rafi isn’t Satmar.
So this is about one sect of Orthodox Judaism?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Remedy?  What happened to "We never change"?
I got the impression from many here that they are in favor of *the schools* improving secular education (the ones that are truly failing).

I'm sure you know there are gazillion other laws on the books for many years that aren't enforced. That's America.
it seems that @CountValentine is suggesting to start enforcing laws somewhere - anywhere. Hey, let's help those poor students from crime ridden neighborhoods by enforcing laws there.

Among my closest relatives: All very frum orthodox.
Among my more distant relatives: All very frum orthodox.

They used a different recipe obviously, let them continue their work in the kitchen the way they know best.

I have always been for enforcing laws.

Wait... I was answering the question re: How my relatives turned out after attending public school and getting religious education after school and at home.  Are you responding to the same question?

This is the interference in a few religious sects for now, which is a dangerous precedent. It should not be done. It is very wrong. EVEN IF IT IS THE LAW.

They have no business projecting this onto another religious sect that probably disagrees.

Because then you aren’t addressing the point I made with anecdotal evidence rather you are disagreeing in which case you should explain why.
Maybe I'm addressing a different point.
What was your point again?

This precedent has been set in many states for many years without issue. You sure you are not overacting?
The law in no way stops anyone from practicing their religious beliefs.

@Rafi is a 4th generation student at the Hebrew Academy of CLE :)
It opened in 1943, so this couldn't have been Dr. Eleff, polio researcher, right?

Wait... I was answering the question re: How my relatives turned out after attending public school and getting religious education after school and at home.  Are you responding to the same question?

Following the flow of the discussion. CV was asking if one attending PS and learning religion at home can still grow up orthodox Jews, to which I responded:

Not all orthodox are the same, and the government should have no say on determining that.

You answered your relatives went that route. When CV asked how did they fare with their religious believes, you gave your examples and I gave mine. ;)

Correct, my maternal grandfather is 10 years younger than my paternal grandfather, may they and their spouses both live and be well until 180.

No I don't know every religion's religious beliefs. Is there a religion where one of their beliefs is secular studies can't be taught in school?

So this is about one sect of Orthodox Judaism?
This is about the NYT article. If they would have gone after a specific group of my brothers and sisters who have the "Satmar" moniker attached to them, then the answer to your question would have been yes. But
NYT pooled the funds of all yeshivas in NY into one giant number. That means all yeshivas are Chassidish yeshivas "in the context of this discussion."
so the answer is no.

No I don't know every religion's religious beliefs. Is there a religion where one of their beliefs is secular studies can't be taught in school?
Some religious sects oppose teaching or even speaking in English. I am not part of them, FWIU they would oppose being taught the English language.
