I had a similar situation, but I felt the mortgage company was more at fault. I set up autopay twice and got confirmation emails. It was then cancelled after (I think the account number was wrong) but I got no emails. I believe they sent paper letters to the house, which I was not living in.
I tried fighting with them but got nowhere. I'm currently biding time to see if my CR goes back up, if not I'll have to spend money on one of those credit repair companies.
It's really really frustrating, I had sterling credit before.
