2. It's amazing to see the stark difference of how The Rebbe talked about reform Jews and how Rav Avigdor Miller talked about them. I forgot what a good mussar schmooze sounds like, and I remember how thankful I am to be raised with another view point on non-frum (yet) Jews.

I believe R Avigdors viewpoint is crystal clear and that the bulk of chasidim/litvaks/sfardim have the same viewpoint.

Reading the excerpt quoted, it sounds like R Miller was talking about the continuity of Klal Yisroel coming from within frumkeit. And that all other movements won't be a factor in our future.
There were Tzedukees, Pharisees, etc.  But OUR halacha and hashkafa are the mesora we live with.
This is so freaking obvious. Of course our history makes mention of the bad apples, but not coloring them as sweet ones.
Not to denigrate any other point of view, but for me personally, it's so refreshing to have someone like Reb Avigdor Miller who fearlessly said things the way they are and didn't whitewash anything.

Listen, everyone is saying Rav Avigdors words weren't meant literally, so ok.

But he seemed to mean it literally to me that only good people go in Tanach, which is of course not true.

Shlomo Filber (Direct Polls) just went on live saying that it is impossible for בל"ד to pass the threshold, he also says רע"ם might fall below threshold. He also says that throughout the day they estimated 62 for Jewish/Democratic bloc, but out of caution came out with the 61 figure at 10pm. He says that if רע"ם fails then it could be 63.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Unprecedented.

Actually IMHO if נעם would run separately, they might be considered המפלגה החרדית ביותר but would likely stay out. It is an important voice, glad to see that they joined and seems to be in.

Just updated that he seems more confident about 62, with the 1 coming from Gantz and moving to either Shas or Likud. If רע"ם fails that becomes a game changer!

But he seemed to mean it literally to me that only good people go in Tanach, which is of course not true.

The truth is that someday there will be a history written; there will be a Tanach written.  The gemara says that: אליהו כותב והקב״ה חותם – Eliyahu HaNavi is going to write it and Hakodosh Boruch Hu will sign (Kiddushin 70a). There’s going to be a great Tanach written and in that Tanach you’ll look in the back or in the front for references; you’ll want to see who is mentioned in this book. Likud? No; no mention of Likud! Nothing! You won’t find Teddy Kollek there either. You won’t find Ben Gurion. No, nothing will be mentioned of them. Nothing at all.

He seems to be referring to a future Tanach that will be written by Eliyahu Hanavi, NOT our current 24 books, apparently referencing the below Gemara. Doesn't really seem to line up to me but I only glanced at it so if someone else can clarify that would be greatly appreciated.

Quote
And Rabba bar Rav Adda says, and some say Rabbi Salla says that Rav Hamnuna says: In the case of anyone who marries a woman who is not suited for him to marry due to her lineage, Elijah binds him in the manner that those liable to receive lashes are bound, and the Holy One, Blessed be He, straps him. And a Sage taught: Concerning all of them, Elijah writes and the Holy One, Blessed be He, signs the following: Woe to he who disqualifies his offspring, and who brings a flaw to his family lineage, and who marries a woman who is not halakhically suited for him to marry. Elijah binds him and the Holy One, Blessed be He, straps him.

Update just prior to Netanyahu speaking. Most pollsters giving Jewis/Democratic bloc a slightly wider margin.

Just like Trump, these elections will (have already) be(en) decided based on mechanics and technicalities (which bode well for the Jewish/Democratic bloc and bad for the Anti-Jewish/Bolshevik bloc).

No הסכמי עודפים for Lieberman or the Arabs. Labor, Meretz, and 3 Arab parties very close to the threshold. And then there's Shaked whose staying in the race keeps those that vote for her (she has no chance to pass the threshold) from voting for Gantz or Lapid. The 5 parties that are close to the threshold are in a serious bind. Getting more people to vote for them increases the absolute count needed in order to pass it.

Meretz is out!
After hearing of the big win for the Jews of the State of Israel, hearing this news is like a cherry on top!
Meretz was the second incarnation of the Mapai party who, from the beginning of the state have done everything in their power to destroy and semblance of religion in Eretz Yisroel. Good riddance and hope to never see you again!

Ouch! Pindrus might be a nice and capable guy, but there's something about him. Someone once suggested that UTJ should move him further down so that they get even more seats.

Disappointing that Lieberman got 6 (vs. 5 which seemed to be the situation earlier), and that also Shas has fewer seats than Gantz & Co.

Side note: There are 36 seats between Lapid and Gantz's parties, both of which stand for absolutely nothing ideologically! Says a lot about the Israeli voters!

@CountValentine is right. Every vote counts (except where they don't such as votes in a general election in states that are solidly in one camp or the other).

It feels like he has some curse upon him. The same thing keeps on happening to him, with a nail biter until the end with false hopes along the way.

but hopefully nothing to worry about. ministers have the ability to activate the "nowergian law" which allows them to leave the knesset to fully focus on their ministerial duties. if one of the gimmel members does this then pindros should get in.
