Local and/or state laws regarding car seats and child restraint systems (booster seats).

New York's Occupant Restraint laws require the following:

  • Children up to the age of 4 must be properly restrained in a federally approved child safety seat that is attached to a vehicle by a seat belt or universal child restraint anchorage (LATCH) system.
  • Children less than age 4 but weighing more than 40 poundsmay be restrained in a booster seat with a lap/shoulder safety belt. However, a child safety seat that accommodates higher weights can be used.
  • Children ages 4, 5, 6 and 7 must be properly secured in an appropriate child restraint system, one for which the child meets the height and weight recommendations of the child restraint manufacturer.*
  • An appropriate child restraint system is one that meets the child's size and weight recommended by the manufacturer.
  • A vehicle's safety belt is NOT a child restraint system.
  • Children riding in booster seats must be secured with a combination lap/shoulder seat belt, NEVER secure a child in a booster seat with only a lap belt.
  • From the age of 8 until they reach their 16th birthday, children must be restrained in a seat belt whenever they ride in a vehicle. All Front seat passengers must be properly restrained at all times, regardless of age.
  • Children 12 years and younger should ride in the back seat. By simply buckling up your child in the back seat reduces his/her risk of death by 33%.

*It is recommended that booster seats be used until your child is 4 foot 9 inches tall or weighs 100 pounds.[/li][/list]

Just a quick update.  Lax - ewr RT.  757-200. Two Britax carseats.  Both wouldn't fit down the aisle empty,  much less with a squirming toddler.
Also had some trouble with the carseats shifting and hitting the wheel.  Had to adjust them most times after switching from upright to rolling position.
All in all made it easier to get the carseats through the airport, but we still needed a stroller,  to help with the bags and stuff,  and for my 4 year old who doesn't like walking,  and $150 is a lot of money.

Is BuyBuyBaby's warranty better than Bed Bath & Beyond's?

As
Is BuyBuyBaby's warranty better than Bed Bath & Beyond's?

If I remember correctly they're actually a little stricter, although you can return to bed bath, so not really sure where that leaves you. Anyway I remember looking at it a while ago and thinking bed bath was more generous / easier to deal with.

Edit -
And by warranty I'm assuming you mean return policy

I don't think any toddler car seat is intended to be 'snapped' into any stroller, period. That concept is limited to infant car seats.

Evenflo Momentum DLX on sale for $115
Amazon
Walmart

I have another Evenflo that's not made anymore, very similar. The LATCH's on this are fantastic (convenience-wise, don't know if it's any different safety-wise). They're self ratcheting, so instead of having to pull a strap to tighten, you just push down on the whole seat and it tightens automatically. This one also has some extras that mine doesn't, like little pockets to stash the buckles while the seat is empty (makes it much easier to get your kid in and buckled).

Any reviews on the doona? Is it worth the extra money? Seems really tempting and especially easy for airports...

If you're going to carry it up / down stairs, think about the extra weight

I'm in need of a narrow car seat or a booster seat with a 5 point harness for a 3 year old.
Any suggestions?

The blogs that cover this suggest just about anything from Clek or Diono for narrow convertible seats. There's also the Combi Coccoro, but if you're asking for either convertible or booster w/harness, the kids won't be too comfortable in the Combi. The go to for booster w/harness is the IMMI Go (which is what Uber Family uses).

Note that none of these are particularly cheap. There are probably others that can save you some money if you don't need the absolutely narrowest options.

Clek is very pricey. Diono Radian100 I checked out recently it was $240 but it just dropped to $196 so it seems like a great option right now. The IMMI Go is what I would prefer as I'd avoid buying a booster seat in another year, my only concern is that I can't find the dimensions anywhere to see how narrow it is.

Thanks for your help!
