Local and/or state laws regarding car seats and child restraint systems (booster seats).

New York's Occupant Restraint laws require the following:

  • Children up to the age of 4 must be properly restrained in a federally approved child safety seat that is attached to a vehicle by a seat belt or universal child restraint anchorage (LATCH) system.
  • Children less than age 4 but weighing more than 40 poundsmay be restrained in a booster seat with a lap/shoulder safety belt. However, a child safety seat that accommodates higher weights can be used.
  • Children ages 4, 5, 6 and 7 must be properly secured in an appropriate child restraint system, one for which the child meets the height and weight recommendations of the child restraint manufacturer.*
  • An appropriate child restraint system is one that meets the child's size and weight recommended by the manufacturer.
  • A vehicle's safety belt is NOT a child restraint system.
  • Children riding in booster seats must be secured with a combination lap/shoulder seat belt, NEVER secure a child in a booster seat with only a lap belt.
  • From the age of 8 until they reach their 16th birthday, children must be restrained in a seat belt whenever they ride in a vehicle. All Front seat passengers must be properly restrained at all times, regardless of age.
  • Children 12 years and younger should ride in the back seat. By simply buckling up your child in the back seat reduces his/her risk of death by 33%.

*It is recommended that booster seats be used until your child is 4 foot 9 inches tall or weighs 100 pounds.[/li][/list]

So what's the point of living in brooklyn if you can't even walk to the grocery store ;)

We have a grocery around the corner but still drive to the bigger one often. Loads of people drive here, hence the valet parking at all the kosher supermarkets.

Anyone have experience with having 3 car seats/boosters in the back row of a minivan?
Currently have 2 boosters and it will be might tight to have a car seat between them. Middle row is not an option. Tia

We were cleaning our Keyfit 30 and my wife called Chicco with a question and noticed that the foam was held on only by tape. The lady on the phone said it should be glued, the tape is only put there to allow the glue time to set, so she sent us a new one and we are sending the old one back. We decided we'd return the new one to BBB and get a Britax B-safe instead as we are not comfortable with the knowledge that this can happen. However in BBB I checked the 4 floor sample Keyfit 30's, and the foam on all 4 was able to move around (as shown in the video below).
Anyone know if this is in fact normal? Does the foam on yours have the slight wiggle?

Anyone have experience with the Britax Boulevard 70 convertible car seat?  My 10 month old is growing out of his Chico Keyfit 30.

Thanks!

I have the Britax Roundabout 55 and i'm happy with it.  Its less than half the price of the Boulevard.
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

http://www.amazon.com/Chicco-NextFit-Convertible-Seat-Mystique/dp/B00AHPZY68 ? Def looks cool! My wife wants to have research and past reviews that's why she's leaning towards the Boulevard.

Britax Boulevard is onsale for $182 using the amazon Mom appreciation discount! It lists at BuyBuyBaby for $320.  I am leaving most of this up to her! Maybe I can persuade her LOL

We installed the Boulevard 70 and my wife isn't thrilled.  Went to BuyBuyBaby today to check out the new Chicco convertible carseat and the BBB rep was raving about it--- I think my wife caved in and we're switching.  On a side note, it def looks cooler than the Boulevard!

Starting to research car seat options for my 9 month old. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I will probably buy 2 car seats, one nicer one for my car and a cheaper one for my husbands car.

I got it because they have one of the best if not the best safety ratings. It's pretty simple to use, although it is difficult to clean which I guess they all are. Overall pretty happy with mine.

I remember seeing this on sale for $99 about a year ago. But I guess it's a good price. The more expensive IMHO aren't worth the money they just have more extras but as a basic car seat it's great.
