United Basic Economy 24 hour cancelation policy

Booked a basic economy flight yesterday,  was under the impression have until 1159 tonight to cancel but they're saying only 24 hours (over 4 hours),  and only way for flight to be changed is to pay $100 and convert to economy then pay fare difference in economy fares.

Anyone know if anything to do here? Is this the case that it's no longer until midnight?

Also need return changed a day earlier, am I better off waiting closer to flight in case there is a delay/ change or booking a new return..

Right was not aware thought they were all mightnight- other airlines cmiiw are, maybe we need a comparison table on DDMS of which airline is 24 vs MN (believe once started another table)

But seems no way around ua basic economy restrictions..

AFAIK but never had this issue so assumed was all of them..

Website says 24 hours, though there may be an unofficial policy.

Can I cancel within 24 hours of booking though it's less than 24 hours before the actual flight?

Yes. All bookings directly with the airlines only give you free 24-hour cancellations if booked a week before the flight.
OTAs like Priceline/Expedia allow you to cancel up to departure time (within a day of booking).
