I am personally surprised (but very happy) adidas dropped Yeezy's worth 10% of their annual sales and billions of dollars for them.

But comments all over seem furious it took so long see here https://twitter.com/kivkapotter/status/1584924358354821120 on that post on DDMS and all over.

But I feel those are ridiculous, companies don't make decisions like this over night and they did it in less than a month.

I can't think of any other company that gave up billions of dollars to stand up against anti-Semitism.

But was it just a financial decision? What's your take?

I wonder if there's any clauses in their contract to protect against this (fines etc). The guy's been unstable for years

There are. It had a morals clause or something like that.

I read it's the 2nd most valuable partnership after Jordan with any shoe company and it's likely going to cost adidas $10B.

Good thing @123-Rosh wasn't making the decision.
What's wrong with what he wrote? He's got a point! There's nothing wrong with pointing out that some racist Jews hate him, and try to cancel him when he opposes their agenda. Are you going to call me an antisemite now? Let's face it, lefties in America are being funded by a few uber rich billionaire Jews who are trying to destroy this country as founded. Yes, Soros comes to mind. And yes, they are causing antisemitism. And I am embarrassed to share the same tribe as them.

Kanye said worse stuff since then I think.

The nail in the coffin was for sure when he said "The thing about me and Adidas is like, I can literally say anti-semitic s**t, and they can't drop me," Ye says, before repeating himself slowly and solemnly. "I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can't drop me. Now what? Now what?"

If they had a similar deal with someone who used the N word, do you think it would have taken this long? My gut says no. It's so hard to find a comparison of someone with that big a deal who has spouted such extreme bigotry.

A sarcastic observation about how the same people (not talking about JJ; a general observation) who decry "the cancel culture world we live in" are happy when cancel culture is (rightfully) applied to what they care about

I think most would agree with someone losing a contract if they were being overtly bigoted about almost any group at all.

Probably but most would use the pretzel defense and say it wasn't bigotry.

Donald Sterling. It took time.

Donald Sterling didn't lose a contract, he owned the team! They had to figure out to legally take the team away from him, but it was clear within a much shorter time frame that that's what they were going to try do

TMZ released the recording on April 25, on April 29 the NBA announced a lifetime ban and $2.5m fine. The very next day the team was already discussing boycotting a playoff game. It took less than a month for them to announce they figured out how to get him to sell the team, and by May 29 the Balmer deal was done.

We are talking a week or so vs 3 weeks or so, and the most recent comments were even less time that that...

It's a very myopic view to hold the few weeks it took to make this decision against adidas IMO. The fact that they did it should be celebrated.

Everything has reasons it takes some time, to drop 10% of total sales in under a month is incredible to me.

I don't see any reason to compare this case to what if someone else said xyz, how long would that take. He has said very anti-black stuff before like slavery was a choice and he wasn't dropped until now.

Plus you take into account the mentally ill defense, is he having a breakdown etc. I think this time frame was impressive when you look at the big picture.

Adidas probably should've done it faster but if I'm in their shoes I would try to find any possible way to keep it going instead of discontinuing billions in business.
