Southwest Airlines - points "sale"
« on: October 28, 2022, 09:41:42 AM »
At present SW is not running a points sale promotion. However when I try to book a flight with points and I am short some points, they offer a different discount depending on whether I log in from my account or my wife's (35% off for me, 40% off for her).

Anyone ever dealt with this and if so do you have an eitza how to get the better discount? I am trying to book with points and from my account I need 6K (in addition to my own points) to book 2 flights and SW offers the 35%, but my AC account needs 11k to book 2 flights and SW is offering 40%.

Just curious - what does the effective rate come out to (in terms of CPP) with those discounts?

Its not great an $86 flight is 5500 points plus 9/11 fee. They are offering 6K points for $117 with the 35% discount.

I normally would not buy the points, but I am 400 pts short for a flight and need to book 2. I can spend $117+11 (using my existing points), or spend$172 and save the points.
